So, just had a hugely long conversation with customer service because I now have two early Addys with silver eye and really want to get this fixed. But I had heard that they couldn't just do Addy's eyes and would have to give her a new head. CS rep was fantastic and took tons of time and asked a supervisor, who said that fixing Addy's eyes only would not be a problem. They said if I enclose a note that ONLY her eye was to be replaced, it wouldn't be a problem. We'll see- I'll be enclosing my phone # with instructions to absolutely not switch heads. Especially since one is tagged 1986 W. Germany on the clothes.

Interesting conversation though. She didn't at first think the old German dolls had different faces than the ones now, but I assured her I have compared Kirsten, Samantha, Molly, Addy, and Felicity and the current ones all do differ from the early German dolls. She then said perhaps that was because the German-made dolls were made by Gotz before AG had their own factory, but once AG switched to China (in 1993) and got their own factory, the faces might have changed slightly to differentiate them from Gotz. Interesting thoughts...

I have a 1993 China tagged Addy and a 1986 W. German tagged Addy, and they are a little different- eyelashes, slightly different color and face shape, German doll has slightly lighter eyes and slightly different hair. Both are different from Mattel Addys. The mystery of the changing dolls continues...
